Photography :: My tools of the trade
I get asked a lot about what equipment I use for my photography & general work. I'm always happy to chat about how I use different tools & what works best for me. Tech is ever-evolving, but here's what I'm currently using.
disclaimer: while i have a collection of vintage cameras i rarely use them IRL
& mostly just like to stare at them.
CAMERAS + LENSES
Nikon D4s camera
(this is my main shooter)
Nikon D300 camera
(this is my first higher end camera + used as a lighter weight backup now when i want great shots, but don't want to carry the above monster)
Nikon Nikkor 24-70mm f2.8 ED VR lens
(heavier & gives me a good workout on long shoots, but it's perfect for smaller music venues)
Nikon Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8 FL ED VR lens
(it's a beast to handhold, but the low-light capability on this is impressive & great for large music venues, distant landscapes, or when i want to be less of an obtrusive presence & prefer being at a distance to capture more natural artistic lifestyle images)
Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-200mm f3.5-5.6 ED VR lens
(all-around versatile lens with it's wide-angle to telephoto choice, just wish the aperture went a little lower)
Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f1.8G lens
(the classic)
